The standard schedule is 3 doses: first dose, second dose 1 month later, and third dose 6 months after the first. An accelerated schedule (0, 7, 21 days plus 12-month booster) is available for travelers with less time.

Can children get the Twinrix vaccine?

Yes. Twinrix Junior is available for children ages 1-15. It uses a smaller dose of the vaccine with the same schedule options as the adult formulation.

Is Twinrix covered by OHIP?

What Are Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B are viral infections that damage the liver. Hepatitis A spreads through contaminated food and water and causes acute illness. Hepatitis A vaccine provides rapid protection. Hepatitis B spreads through blood, body fluids, and sexual contact, and can become chronic. Hepatitis B vaccine provides long-term protection. Both are preventable by vaccination, and Twinrix offers combined protection in a single series.
